Information We Collect

AlienCatalog.com may collect basic technical information when you use the site, such as pages viewed, browser type, device information, approximate region, referring page, and timestamps. First-party catalog click logs help us understand which records and source links are used. Optional Google Analytics is described below.

If you submit a sighting, media item, message, correction, or other information through the site or by email, we may receive the information you choose to provide, including your contact details and the content of your submission.

How We Use Information

We use information to operate the catalog, improve search and filters, review submissions, respond to messages, detect abuse, maintain security, and understand which public records are useful to researchers and general readers.

Email Newsletter

If you subscribe to the AlienCatalog.com newsletter, we collect your email address, optional name, selected interest, consent text, signup page, and limited hashed technical details for abuse prevention. Newsletter signup is opt-in only. You can unsubscribe at any time through the unsubscribe form on the site or through unsubscribe links that may be added to future emails. We do not sell subscriber information.

Submissions and Sensitive Details

Visitor-submitted material is reviewed before publication. We may remove or avoid publishing private information, precise home addresses, private contact details, identifying details about minors, or other sensitive content. Please do not submit information that you do not have permission to share.

Cookies and Analytics

With your permission, this website uses Google Analytics, provided by Google, to understand visits, page views, traffic sources, scrolls, and outbound clicks. Google may process browser and device information, cookie identifiers, and approximate location derived from your IP address. The Google tag loads only after you allow analytics.

You can decline analytics and still use the catalog. Use Analytics settings in any page footer to change your choice. Your preference is saved in this browser's local storage. Analytics cookies expire after six months, with renewal on later visits. Withdrawing consent disables Google Analytics and removes this site's first-party Google Analytics cookies. Clearing browser storage resets your choice.

Advertising storage, ad user data, ad personalization, and Google signals are disabled. Our tag sends page addresses without query strings or fragments and reduces referrers to their origin. We do not send form contents to Google Analytics, and it does not run on admin or API pages. Existing first-party catalog click logs and hosting request logs are separate from optional Google Analytics.

Third-Party Links

AlienCatalog.com links to official archives, government pages, public datasets, media hosts, and other third-party sources. Those sites have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of external websites.

Children and General Audiences

The site is intended as a public research and education catalog. We do not knowingly request personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

Data Security

We use reasonable steps to protect the site and submitted information, but no internet service can guarantee perfect security. Do not submit confidential, classified, private, or highly sensitive information through the website.
